Introduction to the I.P. Clinic

Welcome to the Intellectual Property (I.P.) Clinic at Lincoln Law School of San Jose. The I.P. Clinic trains students who, in turn, provide patent and/or trademark services to the community without legal cost. Potential I.P. Clinic services include client interviews, patentability/registerability search, application drafting, Office Action responses, and/or Examiner interviews as needed.

Information on Services

TIMING RESTRICTIONS: The I.P. Clinic accepts new clients submission and provides services consistent with the following schedule:

September 1 - October 31 Application Submission Window
November 1 - November 30 Application Review Period
By December 31 Notification of Status (acceptance or denial)
January - May Clinic Services Provided (for accepted clients)

SUBMISSION RESTRICTIONS: To apply for services, the I.P. Clinic accepts applications only during the months of September-October. If an application is submitted outside of this window, it will not be processed. 

GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTIONS: If potential clients are located in the state of California, no financial limitation is imposed. Additionally, for those with a financial need (e.g. not to exceed 150% of federal poverty guidelines, the I.P. Clinic does not impose any geographic restrictions.

CLINIC FEES: Note that although the I.P. Clinic does not charge any service fee for its services, there is an non-refundable administrative fee of: $25 for review of the application, and $75 for clients who are accepted.
